“What should I bring for my visit to Chichén Itzá?”

Sometimes we go on tours and don’t know what to bring to be well prepared for the day.

Here are some tips of what to throw in your backpack when visiting Archeological sites.

Archeological sites are interesting and magical places, where you can learn a lot and have a wonderful time. To make the most of the experience I would recommend you to bring:

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes. There may be a little bit of walking involved and sometimes moving around in flip flops can be challenging.

  • Hats and sunglasses. And any extra sun protection like long sleeve shirts, sun-shirts etc. If you must use sunscreen, choose a biodegradable one.

  • Ecological bug repellent. Most sites are surrounded by beautiful nature so there is a chance there will be some bugs. They are part of the landscape! :)

  • Most of the tours include water bottles, but if you want to help our lovely planet make sure you pack your reusable water bottle. Let’s fight plastic together!

  • Don’t forget your camera! But check with your tour guide for any special equipment restrictions, for example drones, tripods, and others.

  • Bring your bathing suit and towel. You never know when the opportunity of swimming in an incredible Cenote comes in your path.

  • Don't forget to bring money. There are a lot of spots to get really lovely and local souvenirs.

Extra tip: If you are an extremely well prepared traveler make sure you add to your backpack a small raincoat. One of those that you can fold would do.

I hope these tips are useful for your next visit to México. But let me tell you the most important thing you need to bring: a good attitude and a smile! :)

See you soon!
